“Belt and Road” Local Chinese Language Teacher Improvement Program

For the purpose of further training the overseas Chinese Language teachers and the backup, and building a team of outstanding local teachers with high teaching standards, which is incompatible with the development of international Chinese Language education, in consideration of the practical need overseas, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education established this program.

I. Eligibility

a) Non-Chinese citizens; applicants should be local full-time or part-time Chinese teachers, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate graduates of Chinese language teaching-related majors; applicants should come from the countries along the “Belt and Road” that incorporate Chinese into the national education system. If you are a fresh graduate, you must make sure that you have a clear agreement on teaching Chinese.

b) Should be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and   regulations of the school;
        c) In good physical and mental conditions, and with a good record of academic performance and conduct;
        d) Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields;
        e) Aged between 18 and 45 (as of September 1st, 2022)

II. Scholarship Types and Qualifications

A. Chinese Language Teacher Programme

Master’s Program	2 years (Register in September 2022)	Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages	Applicants shall hold a Bachelor’s degree, and have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution or relevant proof upon completing their studies in China.
Doctor's Program	4 years (Register in September 2022)	Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages	Applicants shall hold a Master’s degree in majors such as Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Linguistics, or Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Applicants shall have a minimum score of 200 on the HSK Test (Level 6), and 60 on the HSKK test (Advanced Level). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or proof to the same effect.
One Academic Year Program	11 months (Register in September 2022) International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.	Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages	HSK (Level 3) -270 and an HSKK test score is required

III Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, monthly living allowance, and comprehensive insurance for foreign students studying in China.

Scholarship students should register on time according to the admission notice, otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled. Students who register before September 15 (including September 15) can get the whole month's living allowance, and students who register after September 15 can only get half of the living allowance for this month.

Note: If you are unable to come to China due to the epidemic, online classes will be held. During the online teaching period, the funding content shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.

IV. Application Procedure

Online registration will be available from March 1, 2022, on the Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn). Please log on to find recommendation institutions and host institutions (the Agency Number of ZJNU is 10345). For the category, please choose International Chinese Teacher Scholarship-Whether it is a special scholarship (yes)-The Belt and Road Local Chinese Teacher Promotion Project. Submit application documents online, track the application progress, feedback of review, and admission results. Scholarship winners shall confirm with the host institutions to go through the procedures of studying in China, print out the CIS certificate online, and register at host institutions on the designated date as per the letter of admission.

V. Disclaimer

1. Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed.

2. Applicants will be disqualified from the application in case of fraudulent application materials or application materials are completed and submitted by someone else.

3. Scholarship winners who cannot register with the host institutions on time should inform the host institution about the reasons in written form within 15 days before the admission date. For those who do not register as requested without reason, the scholarship will be canceled.

4. Scholarship will be canceled for those who do not pass the admission physical examination, drop out, or take schooling suspension during the study.
