Physics (Taught in Chinese)

1. Program Objectives

This program aims to cultivate innovative talents in the field of physics, with solid and broad basic theory, systematic and  deep specialized knowledge, and good cultural literacy and  comprehensive quality. The graduates will be familiar with the  latest developments and issues of the field, can conduct research work  independently and achieve innovative performance in science or  engineering technology. The specific objectives are as follows:

1. To enable students to achieve a rigorous scholarship, excellent scientific style and academic ethics;

2. Solid foundation of this discipline and the deep professional knowledge;

3. The ability of academic innovation, pioneering and independent research in the field of physical science;

4.  An open academic horizon, familiar with the basic theory and knowledge  of relevant disciplines, good at cross-penetration with other  disciplines in the research work;

5. Obtaining innovative results in science or engineering technology;

6. A good cultural quality and overall quality.


2. Teaching and Learning Approaches and Methods

(1)  The graduate students practice the system of co-cultivation of  supervisor system and collective training. Usually, the graduate  students mainly participate in the academic discussion and daily  activities of the supervisor's group, and may also participate in the  academic discussion of supervisors in similar disciplines. Students may  also choose the direction of other supervisors in the same discipline conduct academic research and write a dissertation.

(2)  The teaching of each course is mainly carried out in a thematic form.  The teaching methods are heuristic, research-based, discussion-based,  self-learning and student-teacher teaching. The teaching methods adopt a  combination of tradition and multimedia.

(3)  The main form of scientific research and training is to read the  literature on the relevant directions, grasp the research methods and  frontiers of disciplines, and then put forward the unsolved problems  with the supervisor to discuss and carry out research. During the  academic year, students are required in principle to attend various  academic reports and academic lectures.

2.  To accurately summarize and describe the essay topics (research  direction) involved in the necessary basic theory, cutting-edge results  and research developments. The main content and main points of view can  reflect the latest research results in this research direction (field)  and innovate, which can reflect the actual level of the problem of  graduate students' finding and analyzing and solving problems.

3. The number of words to meet the requirements of the master's thesis (not less than 30,000 words), and more than 50 references.

Dr.  Qing Liang received his PhD in Physics form Nanjing University in 2008  and then joined the Department of Physics of Zhejiang Normal University  (ZJNU). In 2015, he had visited Dr. D. Peter Tielemans group in Calgary University as a visiting professor for one year sponsored by China Scholarship Council (CSC). He  is currently a full Professor of Physics and Dean of the Department of  Physics in ZJNU. His research interests include molecular simulations on  domain formation in biomembranes, interactions between  nanoparticles/proteins and biomembranes, interactions between  nanoparticles and proteins, etc.

He has published about 110  SCI papers with citation of about 3700 times and H-factor of 37. Now he  acts as editor of J. Am. Ceram. Soc. His lab has complete experimental instruments.
