2025 Zhejiang Normal University Summer Art Workshop for Polish Students

Against globalization and multicultural integration, art, as a universal language that transcends borders, has become a crucial bridge connecting different civilizations and inspiring innovative thinking. Chinese traditional culture embodies profound aesthetic wisdom and humanistic spirit, while Poland, as a hub of European artistic and cultural heritage, shines with its unique artistic traditions and creative vitality.

To further promote Sino-Polish cooperation in art education, the School of Art at Zhejiang Normal University has leveraged its academic strengths and international education experience to launch a carefully designed Summer Art Workshop for Polish students (hereinafter referred to as the “Workshop”).

The Workshop is built upon nearly four decades of art education at the School of Art, with four nationally recognized first-class undergraduate programs—Musicology, Dance Studies, Fine Arts, and Drama & Film Literature—serving as its core foundation. It integrates academic resources from the university’s dual doctoral programs in Art Studies and Music Education and research achievements in music arts, fine arts and calligraphy, and new media studies in drama and film. Among the faculty, 33.3% hold senior professional titles, and 50% have overseas study experience. Additionally, interdisciplinary research centres provide a collaborative training model known as the “Three-Three Synergy,” ensuring strong academic support for the program.

The curriculum is centred on the theme of “Experiencing Chinese Art, Embracing Multicultural Innovation” and includes language courses in Chinese, traditional Chinese dance, classical musical instruments, calligraphy and painting, film appreciation, and Chinese martial arts. Furthermore, it incorporates field visits to cultural heritage sites such as Shuanglong Cave and the Root Carving Buddha Kingdom, establishing a multidimensional learning system that combines “theory + practice” and “observation + hands-on experience + critical thinking.”

Through an immersive artistic experience, the program aims to cultivate a deep understanding of Chinese culture among young Polish art students, stimulate their cross-cultural creative inspiration, and help them develop into well-rounded talents with an international perspective, cultural inclusivity, and artistic innovation. Ultimately, the Workshop aspires to build a new bridge for Sino-Polish artistic exchange.
