Application Guide
Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) was established in 1956. It has consistently ranked among the top 100 universities in China. According to the 2026-2027 U.S. News Best Global University Rankings, ZJNU ranks 384th globally and 55th in China's mainland.

I. Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizen holding a valid ordinary passport, in accordance with the provisions of Document No. 12 [2020] issued by the Ministry of Education;
2. Generally aged between 18 and 35 (born before September 1, 2009); applicants under 18 must provide proof of guardianship;
3. In good physical and mental health, friendly toward China, with no history of drug abuse and no criminal record;
4. Hold a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification, with good academic performance;
5. Meet the language proficiency requirements of their chosen program. Please refer to the Program Catalogue for specific requirements.
II. Application Period
February 1–June 30, 2027.
Different deadlines may apply to scholarship programs; applicants should follow the relevant scholarship requirements.
III. Program
ZJNU offers 30 master's programs taught in Chinese and 13 master's programs taught in English for international students.

IV. Application Materials
Complete the online application form accurately and upload the following documents:
1. ID Photo: A recent 2-inch passport-style photograph.
2. Passport Information Page: Ordinary passport, valid at least until February 28, 2028.
3.Visa or residence permit: Required for students already studying in China.
4. Notarized Bachelor's Degree Diploma or Official Pre-Graduation Certificate.
5. Academic transcripts: Complete academic transcripts for all undergraduate coursework.
6. Valid Language Proficiency Certificate or Test Score Report:
(1) Applicants to Chinese-taught programs must submit an HSK certificate. Applicants who graduated from Malaysian Chinese independent secondary schools are exempt from this requirement when applying to Chinese-taught programs.
(2) Applicants to English-taught programs whose native language is not English must submit proof of English proficiency, such as IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo test scores.
7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form: The examination must cover all items listed on the form. The form must be completed in Chinese or English, and the report is valid for six months.

8. No-Criminal Record Certificate:The certificate must be valid for six months.

10. International Student Mental Health Survey (https://forms.gle/TNodp45yUs6gh9yv6).
11. Bank Statement: Showing a deposit of at least RMB 30,000.
12. Two Letters of Recommendation: Two letters from experts holding the title of associate professor or above, written in Chinese or English. Each letter must bear the recommender's handwritten signature or the official seal of the recommender's institution.
13. Study Plan: At least 1000 Chinese characters or English words, written in the language of instruction of the program for which the applicant is applying.
14. Performance Statement: Required for students already studying in China.
15. Additional supporting documents: Applicants may also submit supporting materials, such as published papers, certificates of honors and awards, or design portfolios.
★ Notes:
1. Documents issued in a language other than Chinese or English must be submitted with the originals and notarized Chinese or English translations. Applicants are advised to have the documents and translations notarized by a Chinese embassy or consulate in their country of residence. Documents consisting of two or more pages must bear an official seal across the page edges or an official seal on every page.
2. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all submitted materials are authentic and complete. Applications containing false, incomplete, or missing materials will not be accepted.
3. All applications must be submitted online. Hard-copy application materials sent by post will not be accepted.
V. Application Procedures
1. Online Application:
Applicants should log in to the Zhejiang Normal University International Student Online Application System (https://admission.zjnu.edu.cn), complete the online application form, and upload all required documents. Applicants must pay the application fee promptly upon notification from the university. The application fee is non-refundable. Applicants must provide accurate and valid contact details, including their email address, telephone number, and WeChat ID. They should check the application system and their email regularly for updates and notices regarding any required assessments.
2. Application Review:
ZJNU adopts an application-based admissions process. All applications undergo a preliminary eligibility review. Eligible applications are then assessed by the relevant college or school, which considers factors including language proficiency, academic background, research ability, academic aptitude, and potential for further study. Applicants are selected on a competitive basis.
3. Admission Results:
Applicants may check their application status through the online application system. Once the status is updated to “Admitted,” applicants can download their electronic Admission Notice from the system. They should also follow the email instructions to download the Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW201/JW202 Form) for their visa application.
VI. Fees
1. Application Fee: RMB 400.
2. Tuition Fee:
(1) Chinese-taught master's programs: RMB 22,000 per academic year.
(2) English-taught master's programs: RMB 24,000 per academic year.
(3) English-taught Master of Business Administration (MBA) program: RMB 26,000 per academic year.
3. Accommodation Fee:
(1) Double room: RMB 450–600 per person per month; Four-person room: RMB 300 per person per month.
(2) New students are generally required to live on campus during their first year. From the second year onward, they may apply to live in off-campus areas designated by the university.
(3) Recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship, International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship or MOFCOM Scholarship whose awards cover accommodation are generally not permitted to apply for off-campus accommodation.
4. Insurance Fee: RMB 1,000 per year. Under the relevant regulations of China's Ministry of Education, international students studying in China must purchase comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China.
VII. Scholarship Programs
1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A)
Apply through the Chinese embassy or consulate-general in your home country, and submit an application through the Zhejiang Normal University International Student Online Application System. The application period generally runs from November of the current year to early February of the following year. Applicants are advised to contact the relevant embassy or consulate after confirming their pre-admission status at ZJNU. Consult the embassy or consulate's announcements for the exact deadline and application requirements. This scholarship supports all master's programs offered by ZJNU. Recipients must pass the annual comprehensive assessment to be eligible for scholarship renewal for the following academic year.
2. Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B)
Applicants must submit applications through both the Chinese Government Scholarship Application System and the Zhejiang Normal University International Student Online Application System. Applicants should select Type B and use ZJNU's agency number: 10345. The application period generally runs from November of the current year to early February of the following year. This scholarship supports all master's programs offered by ZJNU. Recipients must pass the annual comprehensive assessment to be eligible for scholarship renewal for the following academic year.
3. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship
Applicants must submit applications through both the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application system and the Zhejiang Normal University International Student Online Application System. This scholarship supports the master's program in Master of International Chinese Language Education. Recipients must pass the annual comprehensive assessment to be eligible for scholarship renewal for the following academic year.
4. MOFCOM SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants should apply through the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese embassy in their country and submit an application through the Zhejiang Normal University International Student Online Application System. This scholarship supports the master's program in Comparative Education. Recipients must pass the annual comprehensive assessment to be eligible for scholarship renewal for the following academic year.
5. Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship / Zhejiang Normal University Scholarship for International Students
Applicants need to submit an application only through the Zhejiang Normal University International Student Online Application System. The university will award scholarships based on the results of its comprehensive assessment. Both scholarships are available for all eligible master's programs. The scholarship period is one academic year. Applicants must apply each year, as the scholarships are awarded on an annual basis.

VIII. Visa and Registration
Admitted applicants must apply for an X1/X2 student visa at a Chinese embassy or consulate abroad, presenting their ordinary passport, Admission Notice, Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW201/JW202), and any other required documents. They must bring the relevant documents to Zhejiang Normal University and complete registration by the date specified in the Admission Notice. Within 30 days of arriving in China, holders of an X1/X2 visa must apply to convert their visa into a residence permit for study purposes.
The registration date and arrangements are subject to the Admission Notice. Upon registration, the university will verify students' personal information and application documents. Any student found to have violated applicable regulations or submitted false documents will have their admission revoked. All new students are required to undergo an entrance medical examination.
