African Education (Taught in Chinese)

I. Discipline & Program Overview

This program cultivates professional talents dedicated to China-Africa educational exchanges and cooperation. Graduates will possess a solid foundation in African studies and education, as well as core academic competencies for African education research, including professional reading, academic writing, presentation and scholarly communication skills. They will be proficient in reading and translating foreign-language literature relevant to this discipline, with strong capabilities to write and communicate in foreign languages. They will be equipped with practical expertise to participate in China-Africa educational exchange and cooperation initiatives, alongside the potential to pursue further advanced studies. Upon graduation, they can provide intellectual support and policy recommendations for China-Africa educational communication and collaborative undertakings.


II. Duration of Study

The program has a standard duration of 3 years, with a maximum study period not exceeding 5 years.


III. Research Directions

Students will systematically learn the historical evolution, current development and future trends of African higher education, and conduct research on key and hot-button issues of higher education in individual African countries and regions. They will gain an overview of the history, present status and developmental trends of African vocational education, exploring core research topics concerning vocational education across African nations and areas. They will study the historical changes, current situation and prospects of African teacher education, with a focus on teacher education in typical African countries and regions, and conduct in-depth analysis of major issues in this field. They will master the history and contemporary landscape of China-Africa educational relations, with an emphasis on China’s educational aid and cooperation with Africa, and examine the influence and dissemination of Chinese education across the African continent.
