African Studies is a flagship discipline of the university with nationwide renown. History and Culture of Africa is one of the two majors under the academic master’s program in African Studies, an interdisciplinary featured discipline of the institute, which recruits full-time academic postgraduate students from home and abroad. The institute hosts research centers including the China-Africa People-to-People Exchange Research Center and the African Anthropology Research Center, and holds dozens of domestic and international academic conferences every year.
II. Duration of Study
The program has a standard duration of 3 years, with a maximum study period not exceeding 5 years.
III. Research Directions
Research areas of this major cover:History of China-Africa relations, National development histories and international relations histories of African countries, Historical evolution of religions in Africa, Developmental histories of African ethnic groups and their inter-ethnic relations, Evolution of African cultures and social issues throughout African history, History and current state of African literature and arts as well as their international communication and influence.
