I. Discipline & Program Overview
1. Political Theory
Political Theory is a secondary discipline under the first-level discipline of Political Science. It is a science that studies social political phenomena and their laws of development, serving as the foundation of the entire political science discipline. As theoretical summaries and understandings of political phenomena, political theories are of great significance for standardizing and guiding people’s political activities, improving their capacity for political cognition, advancing national and global political civilization, fostering sound social political development, and achieving good governance. Key research areas of this program cover fundamental political theories and methodologies, grassroots politics and urban-rural governance, as well as political construction and political development.
2. International Politics
International Politics is a science examining political relations and their evolving laws among actors in the international community, such as sovereign states and international organizations. Its research scope includes the formation and evolution of the international political system, international community and global power structure; fundamental contradictions and developmental laws of the international community; interactions among international actors; international peace and warfare; international cooperation and competition; the international political and economic order; plus the impacts of science and technology, economy, military affairs, culture, international law, international organizations, ecological environment, energy resources and other factors on international politics.
3. International Relations
International Relations mainly investigates all cross-border social ties between sovereign states, international organizations and other global actors, encompassing political, economic, military, cultural and other transnational relations. The theoretical dimension focuses on the foreign behaviors and mutual interactions of international actors, the structural composition of the international relations system, and internal and external factors driving shifts in the global system. In practical research, teaching and academic inquiries center on historical and contemporary issues concerning African development and China-Africa relations. The program cultivates interdisciplinary talents equipped with general theoretical and historical knowledge of international relations, alongside in-depth insights into African history, current realities and relevant theories.
II. Duration of Study
The program has a standard duration of 3 years, with a maximum study period not exceeding 5 years.

1. Political Theory
Political Theory is a secondary discipline under the first-level discipline of Political Science. It is a science that studies social political phenomena and their laws of development, serving as the foundation of the entire political science discipline.
