Master's Programs
I. Discipline & Program Overview
International Spread of Chinese Language is an off-catalogue secondary discipline independently established by Zhejiang Normal University in 2012. The program covers three research directions: Second Language Acquisition, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and International Communication of Chinese Culture.
It has a team of 6 supervisors, including 3 professors, all holding doctoral degrees. In recent years, remarkable academic achievements have been made by the discipline. Faculty have undertaken 5 projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC), among which 1 is a Major Project, plus 6 provincial and ministerial-level research projects. More than 10 monographs have been published, and 19 papers have been issued in authoritative and top-tier academic journals.

The program has a standard duration of 3 years, with a maximum study period not exceeding 5 years.

| 2 | Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages | It studies the phonetic, lexical, grammatical and character systems of Chinese for foreign learners, the history of Chinese language communication, as well as theories and methodologies for teaching Chinese as a second language. |
| 3 | International Communication of Chinese Culture | It researches Chinese culture, Chinese literature, Chinese folk customs and their overseas dissemination, alongside international cultural relations. |
