Teaching Chinese to Foreigners as a Second Language (Taught in Chinese)

I. Educational Objectives

This program cultivates interdisciplinary local talents meeting the demands of international Chinese language education. Graduates possess solid proficiency in Chinese language and extensive knowledge of Chinese and foreign cultures, with profound awareness and understanding of Chinese culture. They are equipped with capabilities in cross-cultural communication and international Chinese language education, and qualified to deliver Chinese language and Chinese culture teaching in various educational institutions and language training organizations in their home countries. The program features three core priorities for training international Chinese language teachers: equal emphasis on language teaching and cultural teaching; equal emphasis on internationalization and regional adaptation; equal emphasis on cultural self-awareness and cross-cultural communication awareness.

II. Duration of Study

The program lasts for 4 years, with a permitted study period of 3–6 years.

III. Basic Disciplinary Courses

Introduction to Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Intermediate Comprehensive Chinese, Intermediate Chinese Reading and Writing, Advanced Comprehensive Chinese, Advanced Chinese Reading and Writing, etc.

IV. Core Major Courses

Introduction to International Chinese Language Education, Modern Chinese, General Theory of Chinese Culture, Chinese Classroom Teaching Methodology, Teaching Skills for International Chinese Language Education, Introduction to Linguistics, Cross-Cultural Communication, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Second Language Acquisition, etc.

Humanities Chinese, Mathematics.
