Special Education (Taught in Chinese)

I. Educational Objectives

Upholding the university motto “Wisdom with Virtue; Integrity with Innovation” and adhering to the philosophy of “Embrace all children; Achieve inclusive integration”, this program cultivates special education professionals who are devoted to special education and full of humanitarian care for children with special needs. Graduates shall maintain positive emotions and sound personality, possess sound humanistic literacy, systematic educational theoretical knowledge, and solid capabilities in education and rehabilitation. They are competent to engage in teaching work in special education schools, autism schools, inclusive education schools, rehabilitation institutions and related organizations.

II. Duration of Study

The program lasts for 4 years, with a permitted study period of 3–6 years.

III. Basic Disciplinary Courses (Including Teacher Education Courses)

Introduction to Special Education, Introduction to Pedagogy, Introduction to Psychology, Child Human Biology, Curriculum and Instruction in Basic Education, Children’s Learning Science, Educational Statistics and Software Application, Children’s Language and Literature, Information Technology for Teaching, Classroom Management, Teacher Ethics, etc.

IV. Core Major Courses

Overview of Special Education, Development of Children with Special Needs, Identification and Assessment of Children with Special Needs, Curriculum and Instruction for Children with Special Needs, Research Methods in Special Education, Rehabilitation Training for Children with Special Needs, Individualized Education Program: Principles and Practice, History of Special Education, Medical Fundamentals for Children with Special Needs, Children’s Communication Disorders and Rehabilitation, Positive Behavior Support for Children, Artificial Intelligence Applications in Special Education, etc.
