Musicology (Taught in Chinese)

I. Educational Objectives

This program aims to cultivate outstanding music educators for secondary schools who love music education, possess solid professional theoretical knowledge and sound disciplinary literacy, strong professional competence and high-level education capabilities. Graduates are equipped with solid abilities in music teaching and research, innovative spirit and capacity for self-development. After graduation, students can engage in music teaching, research and management in secondary schools and relevant educational institutions, serving and guiding the reform and development of basic music education.

II. Duration of Study

The program lasts for 4 years, with a permitted study period of 3–6 years.

III. Basic Disciplinary Courses

Introduction to Music, Basic Music Theory, Solfège, History of Chinese Music and Works Appreciation, History of Western Music and Works Appreciation, Sight-Reading and Vocal Accompaniment, Chorus and Conducting, etc.

IV. Core Major Courses

Basic Vocal Music, Basic Instrumental Music, Basic Piano, Introduction to Traditional Chinese Music, Basic Harmony, Musical Form and Work Analysis, Keyboard Harmony and Improvisational Accompaniment, Music Literature Retrieval and Thesis Writing, etc.

V. CSCA Test Subjects

Humanities Chinese, Mathematics.
