2026 Language and Culture Education Workshop

In an era of globalization and growing exchanges among civilizations, language and culture education is not only about the transmission of knowledge but also an important bridge that helps young people from different countries understand one another, communicate across cultures, and build lasting friendships. Learning foreign languages and understanding diverse cultures are essential steps toward becoming a true "global citizen."The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) emphasizes that the diversity of languages and cultures is not a barrier to communication but rather a source of mutual understanding and enrichment. To promote meaningful interaction among young people from different countries through language learning, cultural exploration, academic dialogue, and practical experience—and to deepen their understanding of Chinese language, history, arts, folk traditions, and contemporary development—Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) will host the 2026 Language and Culture Education Workshop.

This workshop integrates coursework with experiential learning, combining language acquisition, cultural immersion, intangible cultural heritage experiences, city visits, and intercultural dialogue. It provides young participants from Europe and North America with an immersive, high-quality, and interactive learning platform in China. Supported by ZJNU's strong tradition in international education, excellent faculty resources, and extensive global partnerships, the program aims to enhance participants' intercultural communication skills, global perspectives, and humanistic literacy. It also seeks to deepen their understanding of language and culture education as an academic field and inspire their scholarly interest in this area.
